Other Pipe Specs
Tripex
Tripex begins with two 1" pex pipes (outside diameter equals 1.125 with a wall thickness of .125 and an inside diameter from .844 to .880). The pex lines are surrounded by a foil faced insulation that is triple wrapped, each layer consists of 2 metalized low emissivity surfaces surrounding a 3/16” polyethylene bubble center.
Once wrapped the insulation has a total of 6 metalized surfaces with 3 polyethylene layers. Each metalized layer reflects 97% of radiant heat (the primary source of heat loss). This is a closed cell product (water vapor is 0 - 100% waterproof). Insulated pex pipe is inserted into 4” drain tile pipe to insure dryness. Seal both ends in installation to preserve this dryness for optimal performance. For more information please refer to insulation4less.com . Thermoflex
The R-value for the 5” Thermoflex closed cell foam (foam is 4-3/4”) is 29 for the full 4-3/4”. The smallest point from pex pipe to the outside edge of the foam is 1” with an R-value of 6.10 at that point. This is closed cell insulation which does not absorb water and is inside a 5” drain tile pipe to insure dryness.
